This page sets out the basis for every clinical statement we make about the Neck Pain & Sleep Reset Kit™. We separate what is supported by independent, peer-reviewed research from what we hear directly from the people who use it — and we word each one carefully. We would rather under-claim and be accurate than over-claim and mislead.

The statements we make about the KIT™ fall into two kinds, and we label them plainly:
The honest headline: the KIT™ is a well-grounded application of established cervical-support principles. It is not the subject of its own published clinical trial, and we never present it as one. Where we describe what users experience, we describe it as exactly that — user experience, not a clinical finding.

Supported by research
The way your neck is supported during sleep directly influences how hard your muscles have to work — and whether they can release at all.
A 2024 study in Sleep and Breathing measured the effect of support height on neck muscle activity during sleep, finding that support height directly influences the muscular load carried by the cervical region overnight. [1]
The study measured muscle activity under different support heights in a sleep-laboratory setting. It did not test the Kit™. It supports the principle the Kit™ applies — that support geometry, not effort or willpower, determines whether cervical muscles can release.
Supported by research
The height of what supports your head governs the alignment of your cervical spine during sleep. Research confirms it directly affects the mechanical environment of your neck — the stress on discs, the load on muscles, and whether pain accumulates or releases. It is not a comfort variable. It is a structural one.
A 2021 ergonomic analysis in Healthcare examined the determinants of correct support height and its evaluation, establishing height as a governing variable in cervical spine positioning during sleep. [2]
This is an ergonomic determinants paper, not a pain-outcome trial. It supports the structural argument — that height governs alignment — and we do not extend it into a claim about pain relief on its own.
Supported by research
A systematic review and meta-analysis found that inadequate head-and-neck support adversely alters cervical alignment — and is linked to neck pain, morning headaches, waking stiffness, and poor sleep quality. The shape and height of what supports your head while you sleep is not cosmetic. It is causal.
A 2021 systematic review and meta-analysis in Clinical Biomechanics pooled clinical trials examining support design against neck pain, waking symptoms, neck disability, sleep quality, and spinal alignment in adults. [3]
This is the strongest evidence tier we cite — a pooled review rather than a single study. It establishes an association between support design and these outcomes. We say linked to; we do not claim the Kit™ resolves headache or disability in any individual.
Supported in principle
A contoured, firm support that follows and restores the natural C-curve of the cervical spine has been recommended as part of the treatment of neck pain. Firmness is not discomfort. In the context of cervical correction, it is function.
A comparative clinical study in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics had 55 participants — including neck-pain patients — test six differently shaped neck supports. Most reported a positive effect on sleep, and roughly two-thirds of the pain group reported a positive effect on neck pain. The authors concluded that a support with good shape and consistency, giving firm support to the cervical lordosis, can be recommended as part of the treatment of neck pain. [7]
This is a 1998 comparative preference study using subjective grading, not a modern randomised controlled trial, and its participants also described their ideal support as not being too high. We therefore present firmness and contour as clinically reasoned design decisions — not as proof of a pain outcome. This is why the Kit™ includes individual height adjustment rather than a single fixed height.
Supported in principle
The cervical spine sits in close proximity to the brainstem and the vagus nerve — the primary control pathway of the parasympathetic "rest and digest" response. Research indicates that restoring cervical alignment is associated with measurable changes in autonomic function. Supporting the neck in a neutral position reduces mechanical tension on this region and supports the shift toward parasympathetic dominance — the physiological state associated with deep sleep.
A 2021 study examined autonomic nervous function and cervical sensorimotor control following cervical lordosis rehabilitation, reporting changes in autonomic measures alongside restoration of cervical curve. [5]
This is our most cautiously worded claim, and deliberately so. The study used a structured rehabilitation programme, not a sleep-support product, and it did not measure sleep outcomes. We describe an association and a mechanism — we do not claim the Kit™ modifies vagal tone, treats insomnia, or produces any autonomic effect in an individual user.
Supported by research
Clinical research indicates that adjusting sleep support to an individual's own cervical measurements produces measurable reductions in neck pain and associated somatic symptoms. The included height adjuster is not an accessory — it is the mechanism that makes the correction personal.
A 2023 study recorded changes in neck pain and somatic symptoms before and after individual adjustment of support height. [6]
The study adjusted height to the individual and measured symptom change; it did not test the Kit™ or its adjuster component. It supports the principle of individual fitting, which is why the Kit™ is supplied adjustable rather than in a single universal height.
Supported in principle
The temperature of the surface your head rests on during sleep is not trivial. It has been studied alongside cervical curve and comfort as a factor in sleep quality. Solid ash is a low-conductivity natural material that holds a stable surface temperature rather than accumulating heat. This is not a feature. It is the physics of what you sleep on.
A randomised comparative study published in the Tohoku Journal of Experimental Medicine investigated three different sleep supports against cervical lordosis, surface temperature, and comfort — treating surface temperature as one of the measured variables relevant to sleep quality. [4]
We say that temperature is a studied variable and that ash holds a stable surface temperature. We do not state a specific degree range for our own product unless and until we publish our own measurement method, and we do not claim ash wood improves sleep depth. The cited study tested conventional sleep supports, not wood.

Alongside the research above, we listen closely to the people who use the Kit™. Their experience tends to unfold in phases, which is why we describe the Kit™ as an adaptation over weeks rather than an instant fix — and why the 90-Night Adaptation Guarantee is set at the length it is.

In the first two weeks, users commonly describe the support as unfamiliar rather than uncomfortable. Sleeping position often takes several nights to settle. This phase is expected and we say so before purchase, not after.

A note on what we protect. We are gathering structured feedback from Kit™ users at set points in their journey. Where we publish a figure anywhere on this site, it is self-reported user data with a stated sample size, time point, and method — never a clinical finding. Where we do not yet have data we can stand behind, we describe user experience in words rather than percentages, on purpose.
Any cost-of-inaction figures shown elsewhere on our site (for example, typical annual spending on physiotherapy or massage) are illustrative economic estimates for comparison, not clinical claims.
